Late last year, my husband took me to New York’s popular Ippudo ramen restaurant. I heard there are many branches scattered across Japan. Since we missed it, thought I’d try the one in NYC before I head over to the branch here in Singapore. I like eating in identical restaurants in different locations just to see if the menu or flavors are any different.
I remember that we decided on a rather late lunch. Like past 2pm. It was an unpredictable day — with the sun’s rays piercing warmly on our skin but accompanied by a blast of cold chill.
Walking across avenue of Manhattan, we finally get there. Lo and behold — there was still a line waiting to be seated! Amazing.
20 minutes waiting by this bar table laminated with dried noodles (yum!) as I hastily sketched the street outside (actually all my journal sketches look like it was done in haste).

I love your perspective and it doesn’t look lopsided to me at all. It looks fun and free and not up tight. Perfect in fact. Show us more:)
Really?? Aww, thanks Suzie. Since I wanted to add a bit of depth, I’ve tried practicing perspective but to no avail. So I stopped trying altogether :p You definitely will see more of these rough sketches in the upcoming posts.
4th avenue and 8th street? Corner of Cooper Union? I like your style.
Close. It was on 4th and 9th, I believe? I am a bit frustrated with the lopsided style but the vote of confidence truly means a lot
