Received something artful first thing this morning — what a a great way to jumpstart my day
*****
“Hi Cherie!
This photo is what I think of as a wishing wall. It’s a montage of black and white photos of my family – some vintage, going all the way back to the 60s, and one of me dancing at VOCAS. The postcards are from good friends, depicting scenes I love — dancing on the street, bicycles and books on cobbled walks, etc. I love the postcards for the picture, or the time they were sent or the thoughts they wrote.
The wall makes me wistful for the past and yet dreamy for all the adventures that I have planned. It makes me think of my parents at the age they were at in the photos, their thoughts and conversations.
The postcards make me think of where I want to be.

“Hi Riya!
This is absolutely precious. Such a great way to celebrate the ordinary by curating an extraordinary wall
Thank you so much for sharing your dreams and a part of your home with us.
Still wishing that black-and-white NYC skyline could have made it to the wall, too. To this day, I’m still annoyed at myself for jotting down the wrong address (argh). Note to self: wear glasses at all times.

Thanks for inviting me! I really do sit on my chair and look at these photos when I have my morning coffee. Apart from the postcard on the top left (which my friend thinks I look like when I’m scared), everything shows such a pleasant way of life — my mom and her sisters chatting around the dinner table at their first apartment, my dad waist-deep in the sea doing what he loves best: fishing. They really take me away
And the postcard at the very top features a quote from my favorite Jane Austen book, Mansfield Park: “It was indeed a triumphant day.”
How can you not smile at that?
It’s such a treat to have a piece of your wall on mine
I thought that top-left postcard kinda reminds me of a character from “Labyrinth” (not that I’m saying you look like him).:) I love looking at old photos, too, and don’t know if people today still bother printing much Your wall adds a color and sunshine to this blog — thanks so much, Riya!
