Back in high school, I had to take a comprehensive allergy test, where I lay flat on my stomach and the doctor squeezed liquid forms of anything and everything on my back — from fox hair, pollen and eggs. Everything pretty much air-borne turned into embossed maps on my skin. Meanwhile, the food-based allergens left my skin perfectly clear.
Thank you, God!
Thus, I am blessed with the ability to enjoy fresh, mouth-watering seafood — such as this little treasure of a chunky patty.
Everyone was tired, parched (at 118F on the day we came in) and hungry after arriving at Las Vegas on our first day. Decisions had to be made quick before everyone stops smiling. We found a table at Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak And Stone Crab (which I learned was a Chicago-based resto).
Considering I live in the country that takes great pride in their crab dishes (chili crabs, anyone?), I think this is one of the best crab cakes I’ve had in a very long time! Whereas many places serve crab cakes as if the meat were mashed into something smooth, I like the fact that I can enjoy this chunky Colossal Lump Crab Cake with its succulent and sweet slivers of seafood paradise.
Mmmmm.
