I was inspired by the color palette of a famous Singapore confectionery’s shopfront in the Joo Chiat district.  What better way to pay tribute to my neighborhood than by celebrating this shop’s famous delicacy: the humble kaya toast.

“SUNNY SIDE” directly reflects and illustrates the Cherie Altea’s creative process and personal journey within from living in Singapore. The artist pays tribute to the woman who blooms wherever life takes her, the story she carries, and the culture that makes her heart sing.
