When a client wants a 60s themed painting, there’s no holding back on the color palette.
The brief was pretty straightforward: four women with the big, messy heads wearing their favorite colors and set during the 60s. How to arrange the girls so that they don’t overlap each other was the main challenge. The other was making the colors of their outfits gel together. And finally, how to make it vibrant and make all four look unique and similar at the same time without making them look too cluttered.
This painting simply tells the story of the profound love between four sisters who grew up in the 60s. When I paint my clients, I don’t try to capture their likeness. Instead, I try to Intuit their energy and translate it onto the canvas.
All their photos had one thing in common: the relaxed and close proximity between each other. The palpable warmth and fondness they have for each other simply radiates effortlessly through their photos. Truly, it was both a joy and an honor to celebrate the story of their sisterhood onto a canvas.
Because this is a very personal piece, the clients chose to name the painting in honor of their late mother fondly called Mameng.
